However, looking at theoretical data on paper doesn't tell the whole story. To understand how R-4106A actually performs in a live system, you have to look at the unique role of its 2% R-744 ($CO_2$) component.

When liquid R-4106A passes through the expansion valve and enters the evaporator coil, the system pressure drops. Because the $CO_2$ component is highly volatile, it doesn't slowly boil off as it travels down the line. Instead, it vaporizes almost instantly within the first few inches of the coil.

The Reality of Functional Glide: Once the CO2 quickly flashes into a vapor state at the very start of the coil, the remaining liquid traveling through the vast majority of the evaporator is essentially a highly stable, three-component mixture of R-32, R-1234ze(E), and R-125.

This remaining liquid mixture has an incredibly tight boiling point range. Because of this, across the primary heat transfer surface of the coil, the refrigerant behaves with a very low, predictable glide.
